Tricks For Photographing The Wedding Party

Shooting a wedding party can be difficult with all the chaos and the number of people you must fit into the photos. Snap That is glad to share some of the helpful tricks we’ve learned while shooting our clients’ wedding parties. 

Find the perfect backdrop

Look for locations that line up with your vision and can also accommodate your entire wedding party. If your wedding is outdoors, there may be a few locations that you’ve seen that would be perfect for your wedding party’s shoot. The perfect backdrop looks attractive but doesn’t distract from the wedding party. 

Create levels

The more people are in the wedding party, the more spread out it can become. It can be very helpful to arrange the subjects in levels, with the taller photos in the back or by using props and chairs to create levels and group everyone closer together.

Mix it up

When you have the wedding party dressed in similar colors, you can lose subjects in the wash of color. To avoid this, try a pose for the wedding party with the subjects alternating. Try having the groomsmen stand by the bridesmaid that they walked down the aisle and arrange them equally on opposite sides of the bride and groom.

  • Make sure to schedule time throughout your busy day to take photos 
  • Have minimal locations for photos on your actual wedding day
  • Use toss items like confetti, flower petals, etc. that can add flair to your photos
  • Plan to have your couple’s session when the lighting is best
